What is “adventure photography”?
Adventure photography is what I have termed my style of photography. Most everyone is used to the sit-and-smile type of photo sessions that have become a staple for greeting cards and hallway portraits. After two years of doing sessions like this, however, I found myself falling out of love with photography. So I took a step back for a time and focused on photographing what I wanted to photograph. This is when I discovered that I wanted my photos to have meaning. I wanted them to be literal moments in time. I wanted to capture adventure.
So how does this work? What can I expect if I book with you?
Life is one big adventure and I want to capture as much of it for you as I can. To ensure that I’m able to do this, I offer every potential adventure client a no-strings attached complimentary consultation. This gives us a chance to meet and get to know one another as well as make plans for our session!
If you decide to book with me at the consult, we’ll get the details all worked out and your session in the books! There’s nothing you need to do to prepare for session other than to get ready to have fun and make memories that will last a lifetime.
At the end of your session we’ll schedule a date for your reveal. We’ll meet again in two weeks and I’ll show you all the memories I was able to capture. It’s at this reveal that we’ll pick the photographs you want for your prints and album. Once payment for these items has been made, I’ll get right on ordering them and will bring them to you in two weeks time (possibly sooner).
Hands-on, Equine and Weddings work much the same way. Contact me with any questions you might have!
How much does one of these sessions cost? What does it come with?
All Adventure sessions start at $125. This fee secures your date as well as covers my time and talents. Nothing else is included in that cost. I sell tangible products, so the final cost is really dependent on what you want, but you can expect to spend $820 total (not including tax) at minimum. You’ll know the cost of everything before proceeding with a session so there won’t be any surprises.
My life isn’t interesting though, what could you possibly photograph?
If there’s one thing I’ve discovered it’s that life is always interesting. What may seem as routine and mundane to you is interesting and new to me. Let me show you exactly how not-boring you are!
What kind of sessions is Adventure photography good for?
All of them! I’ve yet to find a session that Adventure photography isn’t good for. Do you want family pictures taken to put on Christmas cards or to update your hallway gallery? What better way to do those then to show your family doing something you will all remember and look back on fondly? Do you have a son or daughter who is graduating high school? Why not have them show off and commemorate their passions? Are you pregnant with your first child? Second? Third? I don’t want you to ever forget why you decided that having this child was important to you! Adventure sessions are especially great for birth stories as well as milestones like first birthdays. You can have an adventure doing literally anything!
