The Art of Freelensing

In a never ending quest to perfect my craft (and really just try to feel like I have any idea what’s going on), I’ve decided to master at least one photography technique a year. More if I can. But since I’m kinda getting a late start this year I don’t think I’ll be picking up more than one thing.
But for the year 2017, I’m tackling freelensing.
For those of you who have never heard of this, freelensing is when the lens is detached from the camera and held in front of the lens mount by hand while you’re taking your shot. You manually focus and then tilt your lens whichever way to create some surreal images.
Now, they do have lenses that do just this without having to detach them, but where’s the fun in that?
So I’m only a few days into trying this out but so far it’s been fun! I’m going to a photography workshop on Sunday and I’ll be playing with it some more over the next week.
But here are some of my first attempts at this really cool technique!
